Approaches

We limit the number of cases we take and create an appropriate team approach for each case we handle. This allows us to give every client a high degree of personal service and attention. The team generally consists of the client, a managing lawyer, a second attorney if required, a research attorney, a paralegal assistant, and, if needed, outside forensic financial, custody, or other experts. If the managing attorney is not available because of a court obligation, someone is in the office who is well-acquainted with the client‘s case in order to respond to a telephone call or attend to an emergency.

Each case receives the time and attention it deserves, including a commitment to keep our client fully informed and up-to-date with the status of his/her case and comfortable with the manner in which the case is being handled. We strive to return telephone calls the same day they are received. In addition, our clients receive copies of all incoming and outgoing correspondence as well as legal documents.

Our entire staff – the attorneys, legal assistants, paralegal and support staff – understand that family law cases are difficult for every client. We try in all ways – down to the selection of our offices in a charming old colonial home – to lessen the burden these issues can place on our clients. The firm enjoys eating lunch together nearly every day and discussing the latest sports event or a hot debate about American Idol or Grey‘s Anatomy. Sometimes clients “just happen” to come in around that time to join us.

We try to earn the trust of our clients, both in our rigorous attention to detail, and in our efforts to communicate regularly with clients in an effective manner. An ongoing study of family law and trends through participation in family law organizations is key to our approach.
