Karissa is actively engaged in many facets of client representation, including drafting and arguing motions and pleadings, preparing financial affidavits and discovery documents, and assisting with depositions and expert witness interviews. Karissa often works with business valuation experts to analyze closely held businesses.
Karissa attended the intensive Guardian Ad Litem/Attorney for the Minor Child Training program sponsored by the Connecticut Judicial Branch and received a certificate of completion in 2012.
While attending Quinnipiac University School of Law, she received Excellence in Clinical Work and Oral Advocacy Awards and a Judge Edward Bassick III Endowed Scholarship.
During and following law school, Karissa worked as a law clerk at the Connecticut-based law firms of Welty Esposito & Wieler, LLC and the Law Offices of Christina D. Ghio, LLC. She also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Linda Pearce Prestley of the Hartford Family Court, and as a legal intern at The Children’s Law Center in Hartford, where she conducted intake interviews with children and parents and performed home visits to investigate the children’s best interests.
Karissa also makes time to volunteer in the community. She participated in Play For Kids, a fund raising event sponsored by The Center for Children’s Advocacy, an agency fighting for the legal rights of Connecticut’s most vulnerable children.
